If you follow me on Instagram, you will know that I took a much-needed vacation a couple of weekends back to attend a close friend’s magical Disney World wedding. I decided to recap our entire trip and do a Travel Diary on the blog. Congrats to my amazing friend, Jessica, and her new hubby, Tyler.
Travel Diary | Disney Wedding
I want to start by giving myself some recognition (lol). I managed to fit everything for this trip in a carry-on suitcase. The only thing I had to sacrifice was a pair of Nate’s sweatpants to sleep in.
The flight on Saturday was at 1:15 p.m. on Delta Airlines. For most of my vacations, I fly Sun Country – but the Delta flight was awesome. Each seat had a media player built into the back headrest for passengers to watch movies, track the flight and play games. It made the plane ride speed by. I know everyone has an iPad or laptop these days, but it was nice to have everything right at your fingertips without having to fumble through your carry-on.
We arrived in Orlando around 5:30p.m. and headed for the Magical Express to take us to our resort. By the time we checked in to Disney’s Pop Century Resort, it was after 7:00 and we were ready for a drink and some dinner.
We changed, got ready and headed down to Disney Springs. We enjoyed a meal and sangria at the Wolfgang Puck restaurant and browsed through a couple of shops. This place has changed so much since we were there for Dance Team College Nationals in 2012!
Sunday was the pool day. Julie and I hung out by the pool all morning – and I gained an awesome sunburn.. Oops – it’s still peeling almost 2 weeks later. We headed back to our room to get ready at 2:30 p.m. The shuttle was arriving at 4:00 p.m.
Jessica and Tyler’s wedding was at the Disney Wedding Pavilion in the Grand Floridian Resort. It is seriously gorgeous inside. This place was made for Jess. It was white and pale blue, and the pianist was playing all Disney songs while the guests waited for the wedding to begin.
The ceremony was even more beautiful than the venue and I cannot express how happy I am that Jessica found her Prince Charming.
We were all shuttled to Epcot for the reception inside an aquarium. Seriously… so awesome. Around 8:40 we exited the venue and headed to a reserved section for the 9:00 fireworks. These people are amazing at timing – it’s like they may have done this before 🙂 . We arrived, champagne was distributed and the fireworks started all within a couple of minutes. It was truly the most magical evening I could have imagined – and I am sure it was even more magical for Jess!
Park day! We headed to Magic Kingdom right away in the morning. The forecast showed storms later in the day and we wanted to make sure we got on all of the rides we wanted to and fulfilled our inner child dreams before the rain started.
We headed out from the park around 3:00 p.m. and went back to the hotel to shower and get ready. Back to Disney Springs we went around 6:30 for our 7:15 showing of Beauty and the Beast. When it rains on your Disney vacation – you go see a Disney movie!
After the movie we headed back to a couple of shops and stopped at Sprinkles for a cupcake and ice cream for the road.
Time to come home. *insert sad face* Our shuttle picked us up at 9:00a.m. and we were on our way back.
I ended up getting home around 4:30 which was perfect to unpack and regroup before heading back to work on Tuesday.
I am not going to lie… it took me a while to recover and get back into my normal routine after coming home. That’s probably because I have been busy researching my next vacation – does that happen to anyone else?
We have a jam-packed summer coming up. Weddings the next two weekends, heading up to a family friend’s cabin the following weekend and then it will be the weekend before the 4th of July! Can you believe it? Happy Tuesday – I hope you have an awesome rest of the week and the weekend is here before you know it.
