For those of you who follow me on Facebook or Instagram know that Nate and I got a puppy! We have officially had our pup, Nellie, for 10 weeks! So much has changed – in her life and ours – so I thought I could give everyone a PUPdate… see what I did there? 🙂
Nellie is a German Shepherd-Husky-Airedale Terrier and holy smokes she is cute – not biased or anything. Don’t let her cute looks fool you – she is a troublemaker.
Then: 3lbs | Now: 25lbs. She will be approx 50-65lbs full grown.
Then: PurinaONE Puppy | Now: Diamond Naturals – Large Breed Puppy
Her first and favorite toy was an elephant stuffed animal with no squeaker… Now her favorite is (well was – she may have destroyed it) a cute, large headed GIANT SQUEAKER. I tried to avoid the squeaky toys… but it surprisingly doesn’t bother me as much as I thought it would. It is also nice that I can hear exactly what she is doing LOL!
What She Still Loves:
Her Bed and any kind of treat – seriously ANYTHING. She has always loved her bed – if you couldn’t tell from the photos. I bought it on a whim the day I got her – at TJMaxx – while my friend, Kelsey, held her in the car. I needed to be in-and-out of the store ASAP and grabbed the cutest one I could as fast as I could. She also loves any and every treat… seriously. I can pick up the food from her dish and she will do tricks to get a piece…
Snow. Unlike her mother, snow is one of her favorite things. She will bury herself in it and stay outside all day if we let her.
She Has Outgrown:
Her first collar – but not the flowers I put on it! 🙂
Something She Has Improved On:
Running/Stability. She was pretty clumsy for a while and would literally trip over her own feet. She is much smoother these days – and WAY harder to catch.
Potty Training is going good. She has accidents here and there – aka Monday (see my Instagram) but I have to remind myself that she is still only four months old. We are very consistent in the times that she is fed and outside so having her in the house is more about her behavior and not whether or not she will pee on the carpet!
We are so in love with our dog and can’t wait to see how she continues to change. I am really excited that she has a permanent home with us and still can’t thank K9 Rescue & Rehoming enough for the opportunity to adopt our girl.
This week seems to be flying by already! Volunteering last night at the Salvation Army was humbling and so much fun. I am looking forward to spending time with family this weekend and into Christmas and making plans for a really awesome 2017! Stay Tuned! 🙂
