Although 2016 may not have been the best year for some – I think it was pretty good to me. We got our puppy, bought a house, I FINALLY pulled the trigger on my blog that I have been thinking of for 3 years, I celebrated my one-year anniversary at my marketing job and celebrated nearly three years with Nate.
It was good but I am looking forward to making 2017 the best year yet – cliché right?
I decided there was no better way to start 2017 than sharing some personal and blog goals that I have made for the year – maybe that will make me stick to them! 🙂
I have a TON of great things going on in my life. Taking a second to reflect and remember that – instead of worrying about a bad day at work or my dog biting me again – is definitely a goal I have for myself this year.
Make strides towards a healthier life
- Sleep More – I have always been a night owl. It is definitely taking a toll on my morning routine (that is totally nonexistent right now) Oops.
- Drink More Water – Coffee during the day – Wine at night? I drink a fair amount of water during the hours of about 11-4 but one of my goals is to drink more throughout the whole day
- Fresh Foods – Nothing is easier after you have been gone for 10 hours than popping a frozen meal into the microwave or throwing a pizza in the oven. This year both Nate and I have decided it is time to stop taking the easy way out and plan ahead. It is time to take back our health… that love weight can only stay on so long.
Say No. You can do anything but not everything.
This particularly applies to my full-time job and outside organizations. Whether it is volunteering, joining a committee or working through lunch – I need to remember that I can say No.
Commit to the projects/activities I agree to
After being selective and saying “No” to the projects that just aren’t for me, I will commit to the projects I have accepted. Instead of being half-invested in 20 projects – I will go all in on the ones I am committed to.. blog included.
Try new things
I need to accept the fact that no matter how much I try – some of the things that I am interested in are not one bit appealing to Nate. As I am writing this I am sitting in a small coffee shop in Minneapolis (Spyhouse – Yum 🙂 ). This is something that I could not give Nate $100 to do… This year I vow to take a “Me Day” and go alone.
Post on a more dedicated schedule
You guys… I have almost three months of blog content planned out right now – get EXCITED. I know I am. 🙂
Show more home update projects – that means actually completing the home projects…
Nate and I have A LOT of home DIYs and improvement plans – and I want to share them all! It has definitely been an experience owning our first home and as we learn and create I hope you will follow along.
More engagement and connections on social media
This year it is a goal of mine to spend a little bit extra time on social media connecting with other bloggers. Make sure send me a message so I can follow along with your journey too!
Attend a blogger conference or event
I have had my eye on some conferences since I started my blog. It has been almost a year and I really hope to be able to attend one this year. Have a favorite? Let me know! J
