I feel like it has been FOREVER since I had a minute to complete a project or post on the blog. Life happens I guess? I wanted to write a quick update sharing what the A Piece of Alyse team has been up to the past month.
One of the major things that has happened in the past month is our girl, Nellie. I posted a picture of Nellie on Facebook and I can’t get over how much I love her! There is a long story behind our decision to adopt Nellie.
We had been talking about adding a puppy to our little family – so i was researching pets at local shelters.
Nellie’s litter popped up one Friday afternoon and I knew I had to have the puppy with the white paws. K9 Rescue and Rehoming had their puppies at a PetCo about an hour from our house so Nate called before we made the drive. The lady told him it was not worth it to come because out of seven puppies – there was only one left and the chances of her being there when we got there were slim.
I figured it wasn’t meant to be and kept looking. On Wednesday of the following week I was looking on PetFinder and Nellie (the puppy with the white paws) popped up. My boss gave me permission to leave work early and I went to pick her up! Someone had actually adopted her but was not ready for the work of a puppy and returned her three days later.
What are the chances!? We are so fortunate and in love with her! 🙂 <3
I am currently finishing up my seventh season coaching a local high school dance team. I can’t believe it
has been seven years… Definitely feeling pretty old! Dance team is a huge commitment and something tha
I am super passionate about. I love watching the team come together and watching all of their hard work pay off – the gym teacher at the high school says the dancers are some of his best athletes! Darn right! 🙂
There are still a couple more practices and events left to finish out the year and I am really excited to finish strong!
Nate’s Work Schedule
We have been fortunate enough this year for Nate to work a five-day rotation during the week and come home every weekend – until now. 🙁 Nate’s job contracted work in a different state and he now leaves on Sunday night and doesn’t come home until the following Thursday. It is hard to make projects a priority when he is only home every other weekend.
At the end of the Minnesota lake season, my parents bought a used pontoon. The pontoon needed a facelift and of course, Nate volunteered! He is so excited to “Pimp the Pontoon” – he even created a Pinterest board! So far – he has replaced the entire sound system and updated the lights to LEDs. He has so many more ideas and I can’t wait to see how it turns out for next summer!
Last but not least – we are moving! We put in our notice at our apartment and moving at the end of November. We are moving to a small suburb outside of town and by small – I mean small… like population 732 small. I am excited to experience small town living and have a bigger space to decorate and do projects. I will update more on this later – stay tuned!
Thanks for sticking with me through this super busy – and super exciting – time in our lives. I never imagined all of this stuff would be happening at the same time! I am looking forward to getting back into some awesome projects and sharing them with you guys as soon as possible!
