Before I can say Hello 2018, I want to first take a look back at 2017.
To kick off last year, I wrote a blog post with both personal and blog goals. The past year was focused more around myself and my personal goals. 2017 was pretty good to me and I can’t wait to see what happens with my life and the blog in 2018.
Best of the blog 2017:
- Rose Gummies | Tasty Win or Fail?
- Travel Diary – Disney Wedding
- Three Years
- Office Tour
- A Piece of Alyse is 1!
I am “carrying over” a lot of my blog goals from last year. Like I said, the past year had a lot of changes and focus on my personal life, so this year is for the blog.
More Consistent Posting Schedule
I am hoping to get into my stride and have at least two posts per week moving forward. Let’s see if I can stick to it!
More Engagement and interactions on social media
This year I want to use the time that I am on social media more intentional and interact more before putting the phone away.
More DIY on the blog
This means completing the DIY projects so I can share them!
Attend Another blog event
In 2017, I attended an event with Twin Cities Collective at Haute Barre and also the MN Blogger Bash Lowertown POP preview. For 2018, I want to attend a more “workshop” based event. I have had my eye on Create & Cultivate for a couple of years and would love to pull the trigger and make it to that one this year!
Stop Trying to Make Everything Perfect.
No one is perfect and it is exhausting to pretend that you are.
Develop Routines and Stick to Them
Towards the end of 2017, I was staying in bed in the morning until the last possible minute, scrambling to get out of the house on time, and also staying up until all hours of the night watching Friends reruns…
Bring Lunch to Work More Consistently
This goes with the routines piece.
I am the queen of saving all of my laundry, dishes and all other cleaning until Thursday night before Nate gets home for the weekend. This year, by doing small chores every day, I will not have to scramble to clean before the weekend.
I recently listened to a book on Audible called “The 5 Second Rule”. In the book, the author says that she sleeps with her phone in her bathroom. It is close enough to hear your alarm or any emergency calls, but far enough away that you have to physically get up to turn off your alarm. Once you get into bed, there is no social media time and same goes for right away in the morning. This is one thing I would love to implement for 2018.
After 10 days off, Nate and I are headed back to work today! I have to admit, it has been so nice to have some time off, but I am ready to get back to my normal schedule and kick off the new year!
