Minnesota winter is BRUTAL… and I am not over exaggerating. As I am writing this, it is 2 degrees but it feels like -13… WHAT? This morning I set my dog’s water dish outside so I could jump in the shower, and it was frozen when I came back out. Winter is in full-blast in Minnesota so I decided to put together a post about the five things you need to survive Minnesota winter.
Here we go!
Survive Minnesota Winter
Winter boots are a must in Minnesota. Investing in a good pair is essential – especially if you plan to spend a decent amount of time outside. I went to watch the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train this year and didn’t have winter boots… HUGE mistake.Whether you are walking into work, shoveling your driveway or playing with your pet – keep those toes warm in a pair of boots. I have a pair of Sorel’s on my Christmas Wishlist this year!
Long Down Jacket – Bonus Points for Faux Fur Hood Liner
This is another item I plan to purchase this season. I got my last winter coat in 2010 – Thanks Mom 🙂 and it is definitely time for an upgrade. I have my eye on a Cole Haan Jacket with faux fur lined hood… swoon. Wearing a good jacket can literally save your life in Minnesota. With temperatures creeping into the negatives and road conditions not always ideal – keeping a jacket with you in a necessity.
I feel like this is self-explanatory… Ice and snow gets built up on your car windows – scrape it off so you can drive 🙂 I love the scrapers with the mitts to keep your hands warm!
I don’t know about any of the other Minnesotans out there, but my hair goes INSANE in the winter. I have always had long hair and when it is cold and dry… enter static. My hair will stand straight up, stick to my clothes and literally shock people. I have been using the UNITE Argan Oil from Poppy Salon to tame the locks and it has been working wonders. It also smells amazing and makes my hair super soft!
Chapped lips are horrible and the cold in Minnesota doesn’t help. Sometimes a handy tube of Chapstick just won’t cut it. Using a lip scrub helps remove dead skin and actually prevents them from getting chapped in the future. I have been loving the new Tarte Lip Scrub!
SHOP THE POST:
It is looking like 6-10 inches of snow tonight in Minnesota. Tomorrow is supposed to reach wind chills of -35-45… Looks like this weekend will be spend indoors – hopefully baking some Christmas cookies! We have our family Christmas on my Mom’s side on Sunday and I am really looking forward to it!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a fantastic weekend and stay warm!
