At the end of November, I was entered into a drawing and won a Young Living Essential Oil Premium Starter Kit (PSK). Nate and I had been considering using some essential oils and I was so excited to win and get started!
In the past couple of months, we have been testing out oils, adding to our collection and finding ways to add them into our daily lives to move away from chemicals. There are so many ways to use all of the oils in the kit and beyond, but for starters, I want to share the ones that we have actually been using and a couple of my favorite blends!
Essential Oils We Actually Use – Top 5
Lavender EO has so many uses and usually tops the list for most people. We have already had to order another bottle. We use this in rollerballs, diffusing, my apple cider hair rinse and even to add to a bath.
I talked about DiGize in my last monthly favorites post. Nate has had acid reflux for years and was super skeptical to try it. After a little persistence, he ended up adding a couple
Drops under his tongue and within 10 minutes felt a ton better. He has even asked me to purchase another bottle so he can keep it in his work bag.
I keep Lemon Vitality at my desk at work and love to add a drop or two to my water in the afternoon. We also add lemon to our diffuser in the morning. This is another oil that we have already reordered. Bonus – it is actually one of the least expensive oils too!
Frankincense has become a main component in my skin care routine. A lot of people will add it to a rollerball and roll over your skin, but for me, it has worked best to add 1-2 drops to my face moisturizer and then apply it that way. It is said to reduce acne blemishes, the appearance of large pores, prevent wrinkles, and even help lift and tighten skin to naturally slow signs of aging. I just started easing this into my routine – I will keep you posted with any changes!
This is another oil that lives at my desk at work. The scent reminds me of a vacation – so good! It is a nice pick me up in the middle of the day or to take a break after a long meeting. This is also a popular one to diffuse! I have heard that is you add lime EO, it smells like a margarita!
Three Diffuser Blends We Love
Mostly on the weekends, and the days I work from home, I love to diffuse a “morning” or “uplifting” blend.
- Peppermint – 3 drops
- Lemon or Orange – 3 drops
Orange oil is not part of the PSK, but it was one of the first ones that I purchased after!
Every night before I get into bed, I always start the diffuser in our bedroom. I have been trying out a couple of different blends (Pinterest is a great resource) and decided to share one with the PSK and one with oils that are not included.
PSK Diffuser Recipe:
- Lavender – 3 drops
- Stress Away – 3 drops
- Copaiba – 3 drops
Non-PSK Diffuser Recipe:
- Lavender – 3 drops
- Vetiver – 2 drops
- Frankincense – 1 drop
- Cedarwood – 1 drop
Both of these blends are super relaxing and make our room smell so good before we go to sleep. As far as sleeping better, I am not totally sure – I haven’t necessarily “measured” it, but I also don’t have any complaints. 🙂
I love playing with new essential oils blends and being able to transition away from certain chemicals in our home.. If you really want to be shocked – google what is in a dryer sheet. I purchased wool dryer balls and add lavender or purification oil for scent purposes when I remember!
Do you have a favorite oil or blend? Leave it in the comments or send me a message! Also, if you have any questions about oils – let me know! Click here to sign up for your own PSK.
