With a full-time job and numerous other commitments – it is hard to dedicate a ton of time to creating an impressive dish to bring for 4th of July festivities. This fruit flag is so easy and fits in with the awesome red, white and blue theme.
What you need:
- 4.5 cups (ish) of red fruit
- I used strawberries, raspberries and watermelon – yum! 🙂
- 3 cups of yogurt or white chocolate covered pretzels
- I got mini ones from a local grocery store
- 2 cups of blueberries
For a display I used a 10 inch glass baking dish with sides and a 2 cup glass Pyrex bowl.
How to do it:
Step One: Wash and cut fruit as needed.
Step Two: Place the small glass bowl inside the larger dish in the top left corner. Fill with blueberries.
Step Three: Position a layer of red fruit against the top side of the dish – I used strawberries and cut off the tops. Easier to place and easier to eat!
Step Four: Add a layer of white pretzels underneath your red fruit layer.
Step Five: Repeat Steps 2 and three until your dish is full 🙂
Fruit is a must have in the summer for me. It is refreshing, healthy and easy to eat by the lake. This is going to be a great addition to our 4th of July spread and definitely looks like you put in more effort than you really did. The whole process – washing and cutting included – only took my around 30 minutes (and I am pretty picky).
