I want to start out with a little background before I get into my current skin care favorites & routine. Growing up, I was blessed with pretty good skin. I hardly had acne and didn’t wear a ton of (any) makeup except for dance team related activities. Washing my face wasn’t really part of my routine and it honestly stayed that way for a long time.
Enter year 26. When I got into my late/mid-20s (is that a thing?) I started to notice more dry skin and uneven skin tone/hyper pigmentation and decided it was probably time to start caring a little bit more about it. I also think part of it was due to a lifestyle change – starting a full-time desk job from my regular dance team and walking around as a server. But, here we are…
At first I did not really know where to start and just picked up a couple of flashy looking products at Target. From there, I upgraded to my tried and true, Purity One-Step Facial Cleanser. I still use this product when I have a lot of makeup on and when I am not feeling the full routine.
My Full Routine:
Remove any makeup
If I am wearing a full face of makeup from an event, wedding, night out, etc. I will start will a makeup remover wipe. Then I apply this cleansing oil to my dry skin to break up any remaining makeup (even waterproof!), sunscreen and pollutants. Add a little bit of water and the oil becomes milky and can be easily rinsed away.
Wash my face
If I am doing my full skin care routine, I will grab between this cleanser or this one. It honestly just depends which one is easier for me to grab. This one is a foaming gel and soap free and this one actually reminds me of a lotion and it perfect for my dry skin.
Having dry skin I like to make sure I exfoliate to remove any dry skin and get the most out of my moisturizer. I use this daily exfoliant.
I purchased a dry skin kit that included this product and continue to use it. Per the label, the toner is supposed to prep your skin for moisturizer to make sure you have “proper moisture absorption”. I have dry skin so I need all the absorption I can get. 🙂
I also use this facial spray for a pick me up if I need it!
I bounce back and forth between a few moisturizers. Currently, I am using the Laneige Water Bank moisturizer that I received complimentary for testing purposes from Laneige and Influenster. I mentioned this moisturizer in my June Favorites post and am still using it at night. It is a thick cream and leaves my skin feeling hydrated and smooth – without feeling greasy.
Nightly Lip Treatment
Skincare has become a bit of an obsession for me and being the product junkie that I am, I always have a wish list of stuff I want to try. Skincare is expensive people…
Currently on my wish list:
In addition to the products I use, I have been adding collagen peptides into my daily coffee. I picked this container up on Amazon as their best seller and have been at it for almost a month. Collagen is said to be one of the best nutrients to maintain strong bones and healthy joints. This product also contains protein and amino acids that can help with your tendons, muscles, organs, skin, hair and nails.
A couple of months ago, I was on a mission for longer hair (I know it’s already long…) and decided to start taking these vitamins. They have biotin, borage oil and vitamins C and E.
TGIT! 🙂 This is my first week back to work and it is cruising by! Nate and I have an awesome week off last week and got a ton of projects done. I am so excited to share some updates coming soon. I am looking forward to a fun bachelorette party this weekend and then already moving into the second half of July. Where has the time gone?
