True Life: I am a hair product junkie. I have always had really long hair (except for when I cut it once in second grade and once my senior year of high school – big mistake) and will try any and all products to keep it healthy and strong. I have done the “no heat for a week” and looked like a hot mess. On top of that, I have done hair masks, deep conditioning treatments and trims. I am excited to share my current hair routine and some of my favorite products right now.
Right now, I only wash my hair a couple of times a week. Because of how long and thick my hair is – the whole shower, blow dry and straighten/curl can take me 1.5 – 2 hours. I basically have to dedicate nights to it.
I am currently using Function of Beauty Shampoo and Conditioner.
I am absolutely loving this shampoo and conditioner set. It was a recommendation from Taylor Brown of The Styled Press and it did not disappoint. You complete a hair quiz, select your goals and color(s) and then it comes personalized with your name. Watch for a full review coming soon.

When I am not using a special custom shampoo and conditioner, I always find myself going back to this set.
I am a firm believer of switching up your shampoo and conditioner to get better results. I am on the hunt for another to add to my rotation – if you have one you love, let me know!
Leave in Conditioner
After my hair is towel dried, I apply the UNITE 7Seconds Detangler. This is a miracle worker. I have used every detangler on the market (product junkie, remember?) and this has been my go-to for over a year.
Where has this brush been all my life? Seriously. I used a paddle brush for as long as I can remember and would just wrench on my hair. I figured it was the only way. Enter Wet Brush. I think it is magic and I can’t explain it. It is totally worth the $12.
I apply this Argan Oil to the ends of my hair. Argan oil helps tame my ends and leaves my hair feeling shiny and soft. I could also smell this stuff all day.. I can’t get enough.
Blow dry with this brush.
This is a new product for me and I have been putting it on either after my argan oil or after my hair is dry and styled. According to Ulta, this stuff helps strengthen the hair, while providing incredible softness, manageability and shine without build up. Yes, please.
This is where I styled my hair. I am in the market for a new straightener, so leave your recommendations! I absolutely must have a claw clip to style my hair. With long, thick hair, styling in layers in the most efficient and effective. A clip is ideal to hold a lot of hair out of the way.
This is the best $8 you will ever spend if you have long hair that you don’t wash everyday. I hate when my hair is in my face when I sleep so I always throw it up in a ponytail. When I wake up, I have to work at getting that kink out of my hair. This invisibobble solves that problem. I now sleep with my hair on the top of my head and don’t have to restyle my hair the next day. Such a time saver.
New and exciting:
I picked up a couple of new products from Poppy Salon to test out.
UNITE Liquid Dust – Adds body and volume. Sometimes my hair can get too soft (is that a thing?) when I want to style it, so this also adds texture.
UNITE 7Seconds Glossing – This is a dry shine spray and heat protectant.
Local Friends: Poppy Salon in Waite Park sells UNITE hair products and is currently having a sale. Bust your butt over there today or tomorrow to score 20% off their products. Their stylists – hey Nicole 🙂 – are super knowledgeable and can hook you up with products that fit your hair.
Happy Friday! We made it to another weekend! It is supposed to be sunny and in the 70’s this weekend. I am so excited to spend some more time outside – this girl needs some Vitamin D. Sunday we are doing brunch for my amazing mama and grandma. She’s probably reading so Hi Mom, you’re the best! I love you so much! I don’t know what I would do without you. 🙂
