The summer blogging slump is real… September is here and I am back with a lot of fun stuff coming up for the blog and can’t wait to share everything with you. This past month has been absolutely crazy with commitments for Nate and I. This August Favorites post has no rhyme or reason and is just a pile of things that I have been loving lately.
I purchased this skin care device during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. While on my Chicago girl’s trip, my friend Dani pulled one out and said her dermatologist had recommended it to her.
I decided to pick up the Luna Play edition. It is compact and travel size, and was under $40. The only downfall to the Luna Play is that the battery is not replaceable or rechargeable. It is more for testing purposes and I play to purchase the larger size as soon as mine dies. That’s how they get you isn’t it… They are a bit on the spendy side but honestly my skin love love loves this thing. My face feels so clean and refreshed after using this for only one minute.
To use, you place your preferred cleanser on your face, wet the device, turn it on and massage your face for one minute. Rinse the device and your face – pat dry with a towel and apply moisturizer. The Foreo Luna is a silicone product – which means it does not cultivate bacteria. Using the device also preps your face for better absorption of your toner and moisturizer. Honestly, I can’t talk this thing up enough. If there is one thing you take away from this post – let it be this.
It is starting to get cooler in Minnesota and is now September. I am all over the over-sized sweater and cardigans in general this year. I picked up a Topshop one during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. The fabric is amazing (acrylic and nylon) and the pattern is so unique. I am also loving this one (I have it in Grey and Green) and this one.
These sweaters are perfect the throw on when you need to let your dog out at 5:00 a.m. – Thanks Nellie – and when the weather is crazy and you need the heat in the morning and AC in the afternoon – Welcome to Minnesota.
This top coat… you guys – so good. I had acrylic nails for a good 12 years and finally took them off at the beginning of summer. I have been a nail biter my entire life – I know, gross – and had the hardest time painting my nails because I would always have to redo them after a couple of days. On a whim, I decided to pick up this top coat and I can honestly say – it has changed the game for me.
I can’t promise how long I will stay off the fake nail bandwagon, but for now, this stuff is awesome and under $10.
Also, neutral nails are my jam. I love the Essie Romper Room on my finger nails and the OPI Alpine Snow on my toes! I use the top coat on both fingers and toes! If you need more neutral nail polish colors, my friend Taylor over at The Styled Press has a great post here.
Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish Volume Spray
*I received this Finish Volume Spray from Influenster and Bumble & Bumble for testing purposes.
I have been using this stuff for the past couple of weeks and I really like how it can add volume to my hair without having to backcomb. It is a subtle lift and makes your hair look a little fuller. I have naturally really thick hair, so the thickening part of the spray doesn’t really change for me, but overall I am really liking this B&B product!
French Press Coffee
On a whim, I decided that I needed to buy a French Press. Apparently, the coffee at my job isn’t good enough and I need to spend time making my own… Well, turns out the coffee is awesome and I can’t believe it didn’t do it sooner. It is a little bit of extra work, but purchasing the type of coffee that you want to drink and making it yourself makes it taste that much better.
The press I bought was this one under $20 on Amazon. I love the copper and glass look and am now in the market for a cute canister to hold my coffee.. If you have any ideas – let me know!
I had been eyeing up a phone stand for a while now. There are tons of cute options on Amazon. My coworker has her phone sitting on a dinosaur. I have a Popsocket on the back of my phone and was worried about how it would fit on a stand. I finally pulled the trigger on this simple rose gold one (under $10) and have two more in my cart for my desk at home and at the office.
Gingham and Buffalo Plaid
You guys.. Fall patterns are my fav. I love the black and white Gingham and black and red Buffalo Plaid everything that I have been seeing lately. From clothing to pillow and other home decor – I am all over it.
Our last summer hurrah is this weekend at the lake and I am sad we did not get to spend more time out there. We have not been out since the 4th of July.. It is crazy how fast time flies!
The Minnesota State Fair is happening now and on Monday, I am going to the Sam Hunt concert *insert heart eye emoji* with some girlfriends. We have two wedding in September and plan to soak up every minute of Fall!
Enjoy your extended weekend! 🙂
